What does it mean for a brand to be “Leaping Bunny Certified?”

By this time, you’re probably very familiar with the idea of “cruelty-free” shopping. In the animal rights industry, a product or activity is cruelty-free if it doesn’t involve the harming of animals.

You’ve heard the phrase in commercials, movies, or your favorite Instagram videos of puppies, etc. “No animals were harmed in the making of this movie.” Well, that’s exactly what we’re talking about here.

While cruelty-free shopping became popular by 1996, the rules and regulations surrounding were confusing and unclear. Eight national animal protection groups came together to form the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) and the Leaping Bunny Program to ensure that the guidelines set forth for products and activities were transparent. The CCIC makes it easy for consumers to identify animal-friendly products and brands and the “stamp of approval” is the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo.

As a result, if your products or the associated brand website features a cute, little leaping bunny, you’ve made the right choice!
